PD Doctor – Partial discharge diagnostics

partial discharge
monitoring – pd doctor

PD Doctor solution allows online monitoring of electrical equipment condition, including subsequent
precise and reliable analysis.  All information can be reported directly into customers systems,
even the MV power line communication can be used for transmission.

What is a partial discharge?

Partial discharge (PD) is a form of electrical breakdown that happens when only a portion of the insulation between two conductors is compromised.

This leads to a localized increase in electrical current, potentially damaging the surrounding insulation.

While partial discharge can occur in any electrical equipment, it is most frequently observed in high-voltage equipment like transformers, generators, and cables.

Advantages of PD monitoring

  • Increased operational reliability and security of supply of electric energy
  • Significantly decreases the power outage periods and frequencies
  • Helps to predict remaining system (cables) lifetime and decrease costs on new devices installation

  • Saves operational/prophylactic costs
  • Decreases CO2 emission production
